Urban Wild Turkeys
Wild turkeys are one of America’s greatest conservation success stories. By the early 1900’s, wild turkeys faced extinction from habitat loss and over-hunting. Conservation programs in the mid-1900’s, however, were extremely successful. Today, there are around 6 million wild turkeys in the United States. And as their populations increased, they started moving into residential neighborhoods - to the delight of some residents and dismay of others.
Through visual stories, this project aims to spotlight these impressive birds, remove misconceptions, and improve coexistence with our newest neighbors.
